Strathcona

Now affectionally known as 'Old Strathcona. Strathcona was hailed as a rival to Edmonton when the railway arrived in 1891. Its first residents were an interesting bunch. Some worked at Fort Edmonton, others came from Eastern Canada & Europe, or they were a rag tag group of hunters & traders. Today Strathcona is considered to be the area east of 107 Street, north of Whyte Avenue, west of the Mill Creek ravine & south of the North Saskatchewan River valley. For residents, the area is well-appointed with many boutique shops & restaurants.
