3 Things We Like About Anthem Home Builders

Established by Eric Carlson back in 1991, Anthem started out as a land developer and creator of retail buildings and we believe multifamily products also.

Over the years they have moved into condo and single-family construction. According to their website, Anthem is the fastest growing home builder in the province.

The mission statement posted on Anthem’s corporate website resonates with me. Its clean and strong. I suspect it will also resonate with many of my fellow Albertans too.

“Great Space. Great People. Great Results. Integrated through a Bold Culture”

Anthem has been developing land for residential construction in and around Edmonton for some time. It’s my understanding that they started to build and retail homes to the public less than 2 years ago.

Anthem is a volume builder competing in the mid-price- to higher end of the market. We believe that an Anthem home would probably appeal to professionals and perhaps move-up buyers too.

I particularly like the ‘energy’ of this company. I get the sense that they want to go in a number of directions at the same time and quickly. They seem to have a young and purposeful culture. Many Albertans will enjoy the spirit of this company I suspect.

What are the 3 things we like about Anthem?

1. A New Product for Everyone

At the time of writing, Anthem was offering front drive homes, half duplex homes (Anthem call these ‘paired homes’. Elsewhere, in Calgary for example, Anthem is building townhomes and purpose-built rental homes by way of their ‘vertical team’ construction division. Perhaps at some point we will see similar product in the Edmonton market.

2. Clean Crisp Product Segmentation

Anthem offers a product range that is diverse and interesting. Anthem does not claim to be a custom home builder, but they do offer choices. For example, when I reviewed their popular ‘Front Drive 110’ model, the straightforward easy to understand product brochure informed me I could choose between 3 ground floor plans one of which has a side entrance, another has fireplace option and third is their ‘standard’ floorplan. I could also choose between 2 upper floor plans, one of which has expanded primary bedroom ensuite. In my opinion, this approach would give the most discerning buyer a sense that they were building a home ‘just for them’.

One of the salespeople I was chatting with at the Glenridding Ravine show home suggested to me that Anthem builds to a very high standard. She mentioned that the floor plans she was offering were extremely functional and I see no reason to disagree. And finally, she wanted me to mention how much light an Anthem homeowner will enjoy due to the oversize windows found in many Anthem designs.

3. A Choice of Communities

Anthem homes can now be purchased in 4 Edmonton and area communities. At the time of writing those areas are: Glenridding Ravine, Kinglet by Big Lake, McConachie Heights and Dansereau Meadows (out in Beaumont).

I was chatting with a senior staff member at an Anthem REALTOR® event recently and she suggested that Anthem plans to expand its community portfolio in the not-too-distant future.

I will report on this matter when more information becomes available.

Purchasing an Anthem home would be a great option for you, and we can help you purchase any of them.

On occasion we might be able to negotiate a special price or help to secure some special features you might not be able to obtain by yourself. We will always advice to ensure you build on the best home site available for you.
