The Alberta government and various real estate industry bodies are developing guidelines with respect to home showing. At the time of writing Open Houses are prohibited by our provincial association AREA. The provincial government has also produced guidelines. However, from a marketing perspective there are some things that you can do to ensure as many people a possible can see your home inside and out.

Here are 3 simple suggestions to show off your home in the best light at this challenging time:

1.     Offer a Virtual Tour

A virtual tour and floor plan published on your REALTORS^® website has quickly become a ‘must have’ for marketing your home to buyers. If your REALTOR^® is unable to offer this service, find one that can. Here is an example: 35 Hawkins Crescent Sherwood Park

2.     Move out if you can

Under normal circumstances vacant homes can be tough to market. They often look unloved when folks come to look. Because of hygiene concerns during this the Covid 19 pandemic vacant homes have suddenly become ‘hot. They are easier to show compared to seller occupied homes and potential buyers have less concerns about picking up bugs when they touch doorknobs etc. Vacant homes are currently receiving more than their fair share of attention. 

3.     Consider staging

According to research well over 90% of home buyers have NO gift of visualization. An empty home photographs poorly. No one likes looking at photographs of empty rooms.
