Full disclosure I have lived in Highlands for the last 15 years and love it.

Nestled alongside the river valley trail system, Highlands in Edmonton has long been a favourite of folks who might be a tad ‘bohemian’’ in their outlook. Its also one of the oldest communities in Edmonton. Just 10 minutes from downtown, you will find older heritage homes dating back to the early 1900’s. modern infills and character homes that would have been built either just before, or just after the second world war.

For recreation many residents enjoy the proximity of the river valley, but there is also golf at the Highlands Golf Club and there is a very healthy lawn bowling scene to be enjoyed at the Highlands Lawn Bowling Club.

The food scene has picked up nicely too. Kind Ice Cream brings visitors from far and wide. Fox Burger is also a favourite and we must not overlook Mandolin Bookstore. A great place to find your next favourite read, grab a nice strong cup of coffee and perhaps a cookie too.

For schools there are some good options. Highlands School caters for grades 7 to 9. Eastglen High School accommodates grades 10 to 12. For childcare Vicky’s Child Care might be considered.
